Rebecca Howard-Hathaway

Rebecca loves children, horses and helping others get the most out of their riding and horse “relationships”. Rebecca has taught children and adults riding since she was a teenager, over 20 years. She has taught, coached and competed in hunters/equitation, eventing (through Preliminary) and dressage (competed through 3rd level and schooled through F.E.I.).

As a young person she was lucky to ride extensively with Sarah Geike (trained with Sarah for 5 years. Sarah is a USDF “S” judge and member of USDF certification program faculty member), Sally Swift, Dr. Max Gawhyler, Ann Guptill and Tad Coffin. As an adult her most influential trainer has been Mary Wanless (British pioneer in the area of the bio-mechanics of riding). Rebecca has begged, borrowed and “stolen” horses in order to ride with Mary Wanless in 3 U.S. 3-day clinics. She also got to ride with Georges Malleroni (“disciple” of the late, great Nuno Oliveira- one of foremost trainers of recent times in the French/Iberian tradition of Classical Dressage) in Portugal in the summer of ‘98. She was a part-time working student in the New Jersey and Palm Beach barns of Robert Dover (6 time Olympic dressage team member) in 1999 -2000.  She is a graduate H-A Pony Clubber and an instructor and examiner for the US Pony Clubs. She is also very interested in “Natural Horsemanship” and integrates many of these ground work and mounted techniques into the training of her own and clients’ horses. Other influences include Linda Tellington Jones and yoga.

Rebecca has also been an art teacher for elementary through High School ages and is a painter.
